📢 Chesapeake Public Schools will be conducting a test of our Parent Alert System on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, after 5:00 p.m. 📢
⚠️ The purpose is to test all communications channels the district uses to alert families of important information. On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, we will send a TEST message to the contact information we have on file for staff and parents via text, email, phone call, and mobile app. This will allow individuals to ensure they are receiving district and school communications through the correct platforms. We will also post the TEST message to our website and social media accounts.
🎯 Our goal is to ensure we provide accurate, effective communication in a timely manner. To update your emergency contact information, please use the Online Student Verification process through your ParentVue account. If you need additional assistance, please contact your child’s school.
💻For more information about our safety protocols, please visit: https://www.cpschools.com/article/1818081

Sun ☀ Salt ⬜ Sea 🌊 Sedimentary Lab 🔬
Yesterday, students from Hickory High and Oscar Smith High completed field observations, collected sediment samples, and used lab tools to measure wind speed, direction, ocean salinity, and more! This field trip to Little Island, Virginia Beach, is the first part of a lab assignment focused on shoreline features and sedimentary Geology.
This outdoor lab was completed by students enrolled in Dual Enrollment (DE) Geology. Students have the opportunity to take DE courses beginning in the 11th grade. DE courses are offered in collaboration with Tidewater Community College (TCC). DE courses allow students to earn dual credit - both high school credit towards graduation and college credit. To learn more about DE courses and other ways we prepare students to be college and career ready, visit https://www.cpschools.com/page/college-readiness.
Thank you, Mr. Williamson (OSH), Mr. Lesley (HHS), and Mr. Wieck (district science supervisor) for such an incredible day of outdoor learning! #InspireCPS

Jude, a 9th grader in Ms. Downs and Ms.Garder's class helped spark the spirit by creating promo for our spirit days! He likes drawing animals and dinosaurs and gets inspiration from movies, TV shows, video games, and picture books. He likes drawing with fine-point Sharpie markers and Crayola pencils. When he grows up I'm going to be a cartoonist for shows and books. #hawkyeah #flyfearlessly
