Students will come home today with their Impact Aid Survey card. The Federal Impact Aid Program provides funding directly to school divisions to compensate for lost real estate revenues due to an increased amount of federal property in their districts. Impact Aid funds support all of our students and programs across the district. We ask all families to sign and return their completed cards tomorrow. Federal Impact Aid generates close to $3 million for our schools each year! Help make an impact by returning your completed card. Hickory Elementary School leveled up their school lunch today in celebration of the School Nutrition Association's National School Lunch Week! 🍓🥗🍕 #NSLW23's theme, "Level Up with School Lunch" provided our staff with the opportunity to be game-changers in school nutrition and connect the importance of students eating a healthy lunch to their ability to reach the next level in their learning! 🎮📚 Students also got to participate in other fun #NSLW23 activities including games, coloring sheets, and scratch-off lunch jokes! 😂

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW) to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom. 🍴 This week, we offer special thanks to our School Nutrition staff who work hard daily to ensure our students are fueled for school! 🏫 Earlier this week, community and school leaders attended the first Superintendent's Community Engagement Council meeting of the school year. It was an opportunity to collaborate and share ideas, especially focusing on our commitment to school safety and security initiatives across the district. 🛡 We're thrilled to see such dedication and enthusiasm from our community members. Your input is invaluable in helping us maintain a positive, safe and secure learning environment for our students. 📚🔒 We also would like to extend a special thank you to Damuth Trane for sponsoring the event! #InspireCPS #EmpowerCPS
