After nine years as a classroom teacher, she transitioned to being a school librarian, where she has spent the past five years sharing her love of reading with every student in her school. ❤️ 🥉A three-time Literacy Teacher of the Year, Kimberly proudly serves as the chair of the @Virginia Reader's Choice Virginia Readers' Choice committee, working to ignite a passion for books across Virginia. She’s the science point of contact, mentors practicum students and a student teacher, and leads programs like Girls on the Run and after-school tutoring. She inspires her students at Hickory High School through her passion for teaching, extensive knowledge, and student engagement. Mrs. Mooring has taught various subjects, including World History I & II, U.S. History, Psychology, and AP Government. She believes active participation is key to deeper understanding. For example, instead of simply lecturing, she involves her students in role-playing activities, allowing them to experience the complexities of compromise and collaboration firsthand.
