The VDOE press release lists all 190 public and private schools that earned the “Purple Star” designation for the 2024-2025 award year. We are thrilled to share that Chesapeake Public Schools successfully maintains our Purple Star division status this year. To reach and maintain Purple Star division status, all schools in the school division must have an active Purple Star School Designation.    Purple Star schools retain the designation for three years before being required to reapply.

Virginia is home to several of the largest and most important military installations in the nation. Currently, there are over 78,000 school age military connected students attending public schools in the commonwealth whose parents serve on active duty, in the Reserves, or in the Virginia National Guard.
