Reminder for Families! Your studentโ€™s assigned ๐Ÿš bus route information is available on our website, using our Bus Stop Lookup Tool, and in ParentVUE, by selecting โ€œadditional informationโ€ under โ€œStudent Info.โ€ In order to create more efficient routes for our drivers and families, the Department of Transportation makes a significant number of route and bus stop changes during the first 3-4 weeks of school. As a result, the School BusHub App may not work for your student until these changes are finalized. We encourage you to check back frequently.

Chesapeake Public Schools is happy to announce that Thurgood Marshall Elementary will be offering breakfast and lunch at no cost to all students this year through a program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). CEP is a federal program that allows eligible schools to offer breakfast and lunch at no cost to all students. No sign-up or pre-registration is required, so families no longer have to complete free or reduced-price meal applications! Meals are nutritious and delicious, so consider having your child eat breakfast and lunch with us. Please contact the School Nutrition Services Office at 757.547.1470 if you have any questions. Our first day of school is Tuesday, September 5, 2023. The deadline for ALL families to complete this important step is September 29, 2023; however, we encourage you to complete this process before the start of the year to provide updated emergency contact information and to ensure you continue to receive important communication from the school and district. In an ongoing effort to increase student safety and ensure a safe learning environment for students and staff, we are proud to partner with the Chesapeake Sheriff's Office in a new initiative that will assign deputies to our elementary school boroughs. These deputies will be working in tandem with school administrators and staff to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and will receive the same training as the police officers who currently serve as School Resource Officers (SROs) in middle and high schools across the district. The eight deputies were introduced to the School Board last night. Each deputy is dual-certified and completed a specialized school resource officer training course earlier this month.
