Chesapeake Public Schools is pleased to provide a variety of high-quality instructional programs for students this summer. Generally, student placement in summer learning programs is determined by the grade in which a student is enrolled during the 2023 – 2024 school year.
Elementary Summer Programs
Summer classes will be offered at six elementary sites. Students’ home schools distributed all K-5 registration forms in April. Completed forms were due by Friday, May 10, 2024. To learn more, please view our Elementary Summer School Program Guide.
Middle School Summer Programs
Middle school summer courses will be offered at three high school sites.
Registration
Completed summer school registration forms should be submitted to the student’s school counselor for processing no later than Friday, June 7, 2024.
Students who need to repeat a class (they have not already been registered for) can do so, in person, at the following locations on the dates and times below.
Summer School Registration at Student’s Home School
Monday, June 17, 2024 - 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Summer School Registration at Summer School Site (Deep Creek High, Hickory High, or Oscar Smith High)
Tuesday, June 18, 2024 - 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Tuesday, June 18, 2024 - 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM

High School Summer Programs
High school summer school classes will be offered online (initial credit courses only) and in-person at three high school sites for Credit Recovery, special education, and English Learner courses.
Registration for current students
Completed forms and payment (if required) should be submitted to the student’s counselor by Friday, June 7, 2024. Please note that summer school registrations will NOT be processed from June 10th - June 16th. Summer school registration will resume on Mon. June 17, 2024, at the summer school sites on the dates and times below.
Deep Creek High School- (students from DCH and WBH)
Mon., June 17, 2024: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Tues., June 18, 2024: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Hickory High School- (students from HHS, GFH, GBH, and IRH)
Mon., June 17, 2024: 9:00 AM – 12:00 pm
Tues., June 18, 2024: 9:00 AM – 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Oscar Smith High School- (students from OSH)
Mon., June 17, 2024: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
