🌮Mrs. Wafford's 8th-grade classes were so lucky today to have the food truck, Spicy Latina, come to the school. Students had a fascinating tour of the inside of the food truck and got to ask questions to the gracious and kind owners about their business.
This will set them up perfectly for their unit on entrepreneurship and their food truck menu design project. A huge thank you to the wonderful owners (who also happen to be parents at HMS!) We are SO grateful that you came and shared your wisdom and advice with our budding future entrepreneurs!

Students in Mrs. Wafford's Family and Consumer Science class finished their unit on Nutrition by researching a chosen country and its culture.
🌮🍲🍱🍝The students focused primarily on their traditional foods, comparing their table manners to ours and even the cost of a return airfare from Norfolk to the capital city. After listening to all the wonderful presentations, the students were asked to choose which country they would most like to visit and why. Luckily, they have their 'passports' and are ready now to visit!...(hopefully one day soon!!...) ✈

Students will come home today with their Impact Aid Survey card. The Federal Impact Aid Program provides funding directly to school divisions to compensate for lost real estate revenues due to an increased amount of federal property in their districts. Impact Aid funds support all of our students and programs across the district. We ask all families to sign and return their completed cards tomorrow. Federal Impact Aid generates close to $3 million for our schools each year! Help make an impact by returning your completed card.
