The Virginia Board of Education recently recognized 141 schools for their high achievement and continued improvement as part of its Exemplar School Recognition Program. The recognized schools include 92 schools earning the Board of Education Highest Achievement Award and 49 schools earning the Board of Education Continuous Improvement Award.
We are excited to share that Hickory High School recieved the Highest Achievement Award for demonstrating high levels of success across all school indicators. Only two Chesapeake Schools were recognized in this year's Exemplar School Recognition Program, Grassfield High School also recieved the Highest Achievement Award. The Highest Achievement Award is based on performance during the 2023-2024 school year.
“We are incredibly proud of both Grassfield and Hickory High Schools for being recognized with this honor. It directly reflects the emphasis the school’s leadership, staff, and community place on achievement for all students,” said Superintendent Dr. Jared A. Cotton. “I’d also like to commend the students at both schools for being committed to educational excellence.”
