SUMMER HOURS

sunshine clock graphicThe 2024 summer schedule begins the week of Monday, June 17, 2024 and ends Thursday, August 22, 2024. During this time, district twelve-month employees and summer school programs will operate on a 4-day work week. Schools and administrative offices will have extended hours of service Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and will be closed on Fridays. 

Summer Holidays.
All schools and offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in observance of Juneteenth and Thursday, July 4, 2024, in observance of Independence day.


ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES ARE MOVING!

Beginning the week of June 24, 2024, the School Administration Building, Instructional Services Center, Teaching and Learning and Edwards-Wilson Center will move to 1421 Kristina Way, Chesapeake, VA, 23320. All administrative offices will remain open at 312 Cedar Road until the week of June 24, 2024. After that time, please call 757-547-0153 before you visit an office to confirm their work location. The transition is expected to take place in phases over several weeks. 


SUMMER MEALS

Chesapeake Public Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children at select sites without charge on a first-come, first-serve basis.

June 24, 2024 - August 6, 2024 (Mondays-Thursdays)

Breakfast:
8:30 - 9:30 AM
(8:00-9:00 AM at Oscar Smith High)

Lunch:

11:30 - 12:30 PM

(11:00-12:30 PM at Oscar Smith High)

Sites:

  • Camelot Elementary

  • Oscar Smith Middle

  • Oscar Smith High


June 24, 2024 - July 26, 2024 (Mondays-Thursdays)

Breakfast:
7:00 - 8:00 AM

Lunch:

10:30 - 11:30 AM

Sites:

  • Southwestern Elementary

  • Thurgood Marshall Elementary

  • Truitt Intermediate

These sites are also summer school sites.

Important note: If your student is attending summer school at Cedar Road Elementary, Greenbrier Intermediate, Deep Creek High, Hickory High, or Great Bridge Intermediate, you must have a completed, approved free and reduced meal application on file before June 24, 2024, or you will be required to pay for meals at the site.

SUMMER SCHOOL

Chesapeake Public Schools is pleased to provide a variety of high-quality instructional programs for students this summer.  Generally, student placement in summer learning programs is determined by the grade in which a student is enrolled during the 2023 – 2024 school year.  All summer programs and classes are contingent on sufficient enrollment and availability of appropriately endorsed instructional staff.
