CWI Student Spaceflight Experiments Program Winners!

Fifth graders at CWI recently participated in a science project resulting in proposals to have their student-designed science investigation performed on the International Space Station (ISS). In a competitive submission process, the team consisting of Jameson, Kayleb, Allison, Leila, and Kelby  from Mrs. Drewry’s and Mr. Weaver’s class were selected to have their investigation to learn about the germination of beets in microgravity performed aboard the ISS. Their experiment will be conducted by astronauts as a REAL scientific investigation, not a simulation or school project.

The program is administered by the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program. The Student Spaceflight Experiments Program [or SSEP] is a program of the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCESSE) in the U.S. and the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Space Education internationally. It is enabled through a strategic partnership with NanoRacks LLC, which is working with NASA under a Space Act Agreement as part of the utilization of the International Space Station as a National Laboratory.
