The Chesapeake Public Schools High School Summer Learning Program aims to provide students with the necessary resources and instruction to: recover credits, maintain educational progress for students with special needs, support English language development, enhance SOL test performance, and earn initial course credit, thereby fostering academic growth and achievement!

Summer Testing

For certain courses, you'll need to come to your assigned summer school location (either Deep Creek High, Hickory High, or Oscar Smith High) to take required tests. This includes the Virginia Department of Education SOL assessments and the W!SE Literacy Industry Credential test if you're taking Economics & Personal Finance.

Mark Your Calendars: Testing Dates! Please plan to be at your designated summer school on these dates for testing. Your student's teacher will notify you of the specific date once the summer testing calendar has been finalized.

  • English - Writing: Monday, July 14th - Thursday, July 17th

  • English - Reading, Math, Science, & Social Studies: Tuesday, July 22nd - Monday, July 28th

  • W!SE Testing (for Economics & Personal Finance): Tuesday, July 29th - Wednesday, July 30th
