Take a Peake Job Shadow Day

The Department of Career and Technical Education is proud to announce the third annual Take a Peake Job Shadow Day! This year’s event will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

What is a Job Shadow Day?

The job shadowing day program is a career exploration activity providing an opportunity for eligible students to "shadow" an individual for a day at his or her workplace. The experience allows the student to observe the tasks and responsibilities necessary in a particular career cluster, field, or specific job and increase awareness of businesses within the community.

Who is Eligible to Participate?

Current 11th and 12th-grade students who are 16 years old by February 27, 2025 are eligible to apply for this special opportunity. Students who are selected to participate will shadow a local business professional for the day and gain experience in the field of work. This experience will foster career awareness, explore fields in which there is an interest or aptitude, and strengthen the student’s motivation and informed decision-making skills regarding careers. Job Shadow opportunities will be offered at various locations throughout the region (transportation must be provided by the student/parent/guardian). Specific job placement opportunities are available in the online application.

How do I Apply?

The application opened on Monday, January 8, 2025. The application link and more information is available on our 2025 Job Shadowing Day event fact sheet. Completed applications must be submitted by 4:00 PM on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Eligible students are encouraged to reach out to their school’s Work-Based Learning Coordinator with any questions.
