A new Work-Based Learning (WBL) Program for rising juniors and seniors within the district is designed to “Grow our Own.” The Department of College and Career Readiness is excited to develop this new program to provide students opportunities to develop skills through internships. Students will complete an internship and attend a WBL Seminar class and receive high school course credit. Thanks to the support of the Chesapeake Public Schools Educational Foundation (CPSEF), students will earn $11 per hour and complete a minimum of 40 internship hours.
Who is eligible to apply?
Rising juniors and seniors (16 years old by June 1, 2022) currently enrolled in Chesapeake Public Schools
Where are the internship opportunities?
Students will complete their internship in one of our school district’s many departments including Teaching and Learning, School Plants, School Nutrition Services, Health Services, Technology and Innovation, Communications, and more. Program coordinators will place students in their work assignments after assessing student interest.
When will students complete their internship and WBL seminar class?
Students will complete the program during the summer of 2022.
How do interested students apply?
The application is an online Google Form. Access to the application is limited to CPS students only. Students must use their school email address to apply. Interested students must apply by Friday, April 8, 2022.
