Congratulations to Mrs. Amanda Steadele,
Western Branch High School’s
Teacher of the Year!
Due to the mandatory evacuation ordered by the governor in anticipation of Hurricane Florence, Chesapeake Public Schools was closed on September 11, 12, 13, and 14, 2018. The following adjustment will be made to ensure we will have enough instructional time in our calendar to meet state requirements:
Five additional minutes will be added to the high school instructional day for the first semester beginning on Monday, September 24, 2018, and ending on Friday, January 25, 2019. Please refer to the updated bell schedule for new class times at Western Branch High during this window.
Additionally, due to the loss of a instructional day on Friday Oct. 12, the school calendar has been adjusted. Monday, November 5, originally scheduled as a Teacher Workday, was made a regular, full instructional day. This day also marked the end of the current grading period.
Please be aware of Chesapeake Public Schools policy 9-20 B, which you can access through this link which concerns disruptive activity. This information will also be available in our main office for your review. Thank you for your continued support as we work together for the safety, education, and welfare of our students.
Western Branch High School offers a number of different ways for students to make up or gain extra instruction. From our When Instruction Happens (WIN) program to Extended Days to Tutoring Opportunities, we try to do all we can for our Bruins. Please see the schedule of SOL End of Course Tutorials offered from November 28 through January 11th.
WBHS celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2018.
We had a wonderful kickoff celebration and Open House February 17, 2018. In June 2018, we had a fantastic reunion party for all current and former faculty. Finally we had a wonderful homecoming celebration on October 13, 2018, with the theme All That Glitters IS Gold!
Details are on the Fiftieth Anniversary Webpage!
It’s important that we have the most up-to-date contact information for parents and guardians. If there have been changes to your address, phone, or email information, please contact the Guidance Office to make corrections.
