Virtual Graduations for the Class of 2020

Chesapeake Public Schools are preparing to honor the Class of 2020 one last time, and we hope you will join us in celebrating all our graduates next week!  We have set up a Virtual Commencement page on our website that lists the dates and times of each event, along with links to graduation programs, virtual ceremonies, and digital invitations for students and families to share.  Each virtual commencement ceremony will premiere on the CPS YouTube channel and be broadcast on Chesapeake TV.

Here are the dates and times for reference:

  • August 10, 2020 – 9:00 a.m. – Western Branch High
  • August 10, 2020 – 6:00 p.m. – Deep Creek High
  • August 11, 2020 – 9:00 a.m. – Oscar Smith High
  • August 11, 2020 – 6:00 p.m. – Hickory High
  • August 12, 2020 – 9:00 a.m. – Grassfield High
  • August 12, 2020 – 6:00 p.m. – Indian River High
  • August 13, 2020 – 9:00 a.m. – Great Bridge High

Important Student Schedule Change Information

Student schedules will be developed using the course requests verified by students and parents in the spring of 2020. Due to the need to align student schedules with new school reentry plan, and to comply with VA state COVID health and safety guidelines, schedule changes made after July 21 will only be considered if necessary to meet graduation requirements. Contact your child’s school counseling department for information about schedule changes.

WBHS Summer Office Hours

From June 22nd through August 21st, Western Branch High School offices will be open on this modified schedule:

  • Open Monday through Thursday, Closed Friday
  • Office hours are for the Main and Guidance Offices are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Both offices are closed from 12:00 – 1:00 PM for lunch

All precautions for COVID-19, including masks and social distancing, will be required per state and local authorities.

ToturingWestern Branch High School offers a number of different ways for students to make up or gain extra instruction. From our When Instruction Happens (WIN) program to Extended Days to Tutoring Opportunities, we try to do all we can for our Bruins.
