GSA Information
We are excited to announce that the Governor School of the Arts (GSA) will resume on Monday, April 12th with a Hybrid schedule. Here is your need to know:
- GSA return to in person date: Monday, April 12, 2021
- Students were given their schedule through GSA; if you have questions please contact Ms. Lee in guidance.
- Students will report to the Learning Lab in the cafeteria for third block to complete work for online class.
- Students will be given opportunity to eat lunch during learning lab time.
- Students should report to main entrance of WBH at 1:25 for bus pick up (Bus #251).
- GSA bus (#251) will approximately arrive back at WBH between 5:45pm and 6:00 pm for parent pick up.

Family Option/Attendance Change Request Form (Semester 2)
At the Monday, March 8, 2021, School Board meeting, the Board approved Dr. Cotton’s recommendation to increase on-campus learning time for Option 1 middle and high school students who need additional support.
Adjusting on campus learning time for individual students who meet the criteria for consideration will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Administrators will begin contacting families of Option 1 students who qualify on March 15, 2021.

Chromebooks Mandatory – Option 1 Students
Starting January 19th, NO personal laptop/tablet devices can be used in the building. All Option 1 students who haven’t picked up a Chromebook will need to do so before returning to school January 19th.
WBHS will be available for Chromebook pickup Monday- Friday from 10 am – 2 pm.
In order to check out a CPS Chromebook, students must have a copy of the Chromebook Agreement Form signed by their parents with them at check out. Please print a copy of this form and bring it to the media center to receive your Chromebook. Copies of this form are also available at the security desk and media center.

Parents of 9th-11th Grade Students:
Attention Parents and Guardians, please view the important timeline below. Action is required on your part to confirm your student’s course requests for the 2021-2022 School Year. We need every parent/guardian to do the steps below.

ALL parents/guardians should go to ParentVue or their student’s StudentVue account and click on the DOCUMENTS tab.
Through a google form link on Course Requests in the Documents tab, you will be able to confirm that the 8 classes in your child’s course request are correct or indicate if you wish to make changes. Please note that any courses that have (CVA) in the title or course number are asynchronous online classes that you or your student picked. Please double check to make sure these are correct. If they need to be changed, please indicate this via the google form. If the student has signed up for any CVA classes, there is an additional link that must be clicked on for you to complete the CVA agreement.

Watch WBH Athletics LIVE
You can now watch games at Western Branch High School on the new camera system. You will have to buy a NFHS Network subscription to see our games and all games throughout the nation. Admission to all games will be very limited. Coach passes, faculty passes, and any other pass will NOT be allowed or accepted. NO TICKET NO ENTRY! NO EXCEPTIONS! Please do not ask for special accommodations.
Football Games: Two tickets were given to each football player and cheerleader. These are the only tickets that will be passed out.
Parent Notifications in Schoology
If any families are concerned that their students are missing assignments, they can set their notifications so that they are alerted when assignments are missing. You can provide them these steps.
- Log onto your Schoology Parent Account.
- Click on “Account Settings.”
- Select “Notifications.”
- Select “YES”next to “Course Materials Overdue” for email or phone.
- Click “Save Changes.”

2021-2022 Scheduling Information
Scheduling for the 2021-2022 school year begins on Friday, January 15th. Instructions for entering course requests in Student Vue.
ASVAB Registration
Currently only taking registrations for seniors.
Any senior interested in entering into the military should sign up for the ASVAB test beginning Monday, December 7th. The test is free and is good for 2 years.
ASVAB test dates are February 12th and February 19th. All previously registered students will be notified of change. Registration will close on January 29th. For more information, contact Ms. Lee in guidance.

Senior Exit Appointments
All seniors must complete their senior exit appointment with their school counselor to discuss final graduation requirements before the end of the 1st semester. Students should make their appointment starting Monday, December 7th. Appointments can be made online through the senior Schoology page or by visiting the Senior Exit Links form. Appointments will fill up quickly, so students are encouraged not to wait until the last minute.
