Chesapeake Public Schools are preparing to honor the Class of 2020 one last time, and we hope you will join us in celebrating all our graduates next week! We have set up a Virtual Commencement page on our website that lists the dates and times of each event, along with links to graduation programs, virtual ceremonies, and digital invitations for students and families to share. Each virtual commencement ceremony will premiere on the CPS YouTube channel and be broadcast on Chesapeake TV.
Here are the dates and times for reference:
Student schedules will be developed using the course requests verified by students and parents in the spring of 2020. Due to the need to align student schedules with new school reentry plan, and to comply with VA state COVID health and safety guidelines, schedule changes made after July 21 will only be considered if necessary to meet graduation requirements. Contact your child’s school counseling department for information about schedule changes.
From June 22nd through August 21st, Western Branch High School offices will be open on this modified schedule:
All precautions for COVID-19, including masks and social distancing, will be required per state and local authorities.
The resources listed are not an exhaustive listing and have not been endorsed by the school district. However, they are resources you may want to pursue on your own.
Please refer to the Chesapeake Public Schools website for any official communications and information regarding the coronavirus/COVID-19.
Congratulations to Mrs. Christine Butler
Western Branch High School Teacher of the Year!
We are pleased to announce the rebirth of our school newsletter! Mrs. Emerson’s Journalism I students have produced a new, electronic, student-generated newsletter, The Bruin Bulletin. Kudos to Mrs. Emerson and her student writer/editors!
Western Branch High School offers a number of different ways for students to make up or gain extra instruction. From our When Instruction Happens (WIN) program to Extended Days to Tutoring Opportunities, we try to do all we can for our Bruins.
Please be aware of Chesapeake Public Schools policy 9-20 B, which you can access through this link which concerns disruptive activity. This information will also be available in our main office for your review. Thank you for your continued support as we work together for the safety, education, and welfare of our students.
