Bus Routes

a photograph of a Chesapeake Public Schools bus with new route signageThis year, we will identify buses by a ROUTE NUMBER instead of a BUS NUMBER. Each bus will have appropriate signage to identify the ROUTE.

Please be aware that our bus routes have newly formatted reports this year. Each stop now has an approximate arrival time. Please have your child at their designated stop 10 minutes before the posted arrival time on the route.

When looking up your bus route information, look for the information at the top labeled “ROUTE”. You’ll see a three or a four-digit number between the school code and AM or PM. That number is your route number and will be displayed on the side of the bus.

BUS STOP – Updated September 1, 2021

Your student’s bus stop may have changed from last year! To review your student’s assigned bus route, you will need their student number and birthdate. Select STUDENT ELIGIBILITY to verify their bus stop location with our BUS STOP LOOKUP TOOL. The bus stop lookup tool will provide the most current information for our bus routes and, as a result, we will no longer publish bus stop lists sorted by school.
Complete directions for using the bus stop lookup tool.

Any changes to bus stops are a result of recent updates to our student transportation regulations. Click here to read our district regulations for transportation.

Students must wear a face mask while riding the school bus. Students will be assigned a seat on the bus by the bus driver. Students will be assigned their seat based on the route (first in will be assigned back row, and so on).
Beginning October 1, 2020, every school bus in the Chesapeake fleet will be outfitted with stop-arm cameras and other state-of-the-art safety technologies. Bus cameras will be live and violators could receive citations. To learn more about this new safety feature on all of our buses, read our BusPatrol district news story.
