As more information and resources become available, be sure to monitor the Chesapeake Public Schools website for updates. Updates and resources can also be found on the SWE homepage and under the PARENTS tab. Here you can find information about Virtual Learning Resources that will support you and your family at home during this extended school closure.
Due to the current COVID-19 VIRUS, all Chesapeake Preschool Initiative (CPI) eligibility screening appointments are postponed until further notice.
Upon the reopening of Chesapeake Public Schools, previously scheduled screening appointments will be rescheduled before additional families are added to the screening schedule.
Parental Controls can be an effective way of monitoring your child’s browsing habits and internet usage as well as a means of controlling what they can see. There are many different tools available to parents to keep their child safe on the internet. One such tool is Google SafeSearch. This is an internet browser tool that will block and filter websites and images that are too mature for children. By selecting the search settings in Google and clicking SafeSearch in the settings (be sure to click SAVE), explicit content will be blocked. In addition to using Google’s content filter, your device also has parental controls. You can use these controls to block specific websites. To keep your child safe on YouTube, you can use restricted mode in YouTube on each device your child uses. Google also has a free app called Family Link to help parents keep their children safe online.
