High School Summer School Program Guide

General Information

High school summer school classes will be offered online and in-person.  The high school summer learning program is designed to offer opportunities for students to repeat courses unsuccessfully completed during the regular school year and afford students opportunities to remain on track with their graduation cohort. All classes are dependent on sufficient enrollment and the availability of qualified and appropriately endorsed instructional staff.

Student Conduct

Appropriate student conduct is vital to ensuring a safe, orderly learning environment.  Student conduct and policy guidelines for the 2021-2022 school year will remain in effect during all summer school sessions.  Courses are not self-paced and students are expected to complete a certain number of assignments each week.

Chesapeake Public Schools reserves the right to drop a student if they do not engage during the drop/add period.

On-Site Testing

Students may be required to report to the summer school site to complete all required Virginia Department of Education tests in person as conditions permit.

Special Education

Monday, June 27, 2022 – Tuesday, August 2, 2022

The Special Education Program is for students who currently receive special education services and were recommended for the program by their teacher.  The program is designed to maintain the student’s skill development.
