Chesapeake Public Schools recognizes the importance of extracurricular activities in the education process and the values that students develop when they have the opportunity to participate in an organized activity outside the traditional classroom. Our district goals aim to provide a safe and supportive learning environment which extends to athletics and student activites. The district will abide by district and School Board guidelines outlined in the student handbook, and regulations issued by the state (VHSL) and the federal government (Title IX).
Chesapeake Middle School League (CMSL)
Virginia High School League (VHSL)
In order to ensure the safety of all our student-athletes in Chesapeake Public Schools, all student athletes are required to have a physical form on file in order to participate in athletic tryouts, competitions, and practices.
Athlete COVID-19 Testing
Chesapeake Public Schools (CPS) will test all athletes weekly unless proof of a COVID-19 vaccination is provided. This practice will apply to all student athletes participating in all winter and spring VHSL and CMSL sports for the remainder of the 2021-22 school year.
Testing will be required for unvaccinated athletes and a signed parent consent form will be kept on file. Parents should complete the consent form to allow their student to participate in the program and to receive free COVID-19 testing. Please send completed consent forms to the school nurse.
Beginning the 2021-2022 school year, Chesapeake Public Schools is providing an opportunity to purchase online and mobile tickets for ALL middle and high school athletic events – including all sports for home and away games. Purchasing tickets online permits fans to easily access and share tickets (email or text) without standing in line.
All middle and high schools will have a dedicated GoFan page for ticket sales. All school accounts can be accessed using the GoFan website.
