Fall 2021 – Virtual Virginia Applications Now Available for Elementary Students

Dr. Cotton presented the instructional plan for the 2021-22 school year at the April 19, 2021 School Board Meeting. While the primary mode of instruction for ALL grade levels will be full-time in-person learning, Chesapeake will continue to offer virtual learning opportunities by application only. Families at the elementary and middle school levels who would like to apply for virtual learning will be required to make a full-year commitment to Virtual Virginia. Applications are now available on our website.

Completed applications should be submitted via email to Leslie Russell at or returned to the school in person. Hard copies of the application are available by request in our main office.

Transportation Information

If your student will not ride a school bus to school, please adhere to this student drop off/pick up plan:

Parents who elect to drive their child to school can drop off students as early at 7:10 am at our back-cafeteria doors. To ensure that our traffic pattern runs smoothly, we ask that parents do not park and remain in their cars.  For your child’s safety, please have child positioned on the right side of the car and remain in the car until a staff member can assist them. Please view our new parent drop off procedures video found in the link below.  We encourage our parents to complete the Daily Digital Health Screening found in ParentVue prior to arriving to school.  If you answer “yes”, to any question or if your child is sick please do not send your child to school and contact your child’s teacher to inform them in writing of their absence.

We will begin our dismissal procedures at 2:04 pm.  Parents who elect to pick up their child should remain in their cars using the same traffic pattern as for arrivals.  Students will exit our building from the back-cafeteria doors.  If you plan to pick up your child daily, you should sign up for our Tiny Tiger Express Pick Up.  Parents who sign up for this process will receive a window card with an assigned number and a student card with the corresponding number.  The window card should be placed in the window of the car utilized to pick up your child.  The student card should be attached to your child’s bookbag.  Parents are required to have these cards visible so that students do not need to signed out daily.  Parents with Tiny Tiger Pick up Passes with numbers 1-50 should be ready to pick up your child from 2:00-2:15. Parents with Tiny Tiger Passes 51-100 should be ready to pick up your child from 2:20-2:40.  We ask that you are patient and flexible during the first days of this procedure as we want to ensure that our students are released as safely and quickly as possible.

Students who ride the bus will be dismissed as early as 2:04 p.m.

If you need, to enter the building, please make an appointment and contact the main office at 757-494-7555.
