Meet the FACE Specialists

LaEunice O. Brown, Family Engagement Specialist

LaEunice Brown was born in Jamaica Queens, New York and later moved with her parents to Portsmouth, Virginia. Ms. Brown received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Disorders in 1984 and her Master of Arts Degree in Communication Disorders in December of 1985 from Hampton University.

Ms. Brown worked as a speech/language pathologist at the Matthew Whaley School in Williamsburg-James City County before transferring to work in the Chesapeake Public School System. While in the Chesapeake School System, Ms. Brown has served on the school’s Child Study Committee, Child Find Team, and assisted in creating the Cedar Road Elementary TV Club for students.

Ms. Brown served on the City-Wide School Improvement Team, City-Wide Internet Safety Committee, and coordinated the implementation of the Computer Donation Program for students in Title-I Schools. She also worked as a Production Assistant to Charlie Gibson, Diane Sawyer, and George Stephanopoulos out of the ABC Los Angeles Bureau for the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

Presently Ms. Brown works as a Family and Community Engagement Specialist at the Chesapeake Public Schools’ Family and Community Engagement Center. There she provides training for parents and teachers concerning the special education process, communication as well as consultative services for parents. Sibshops, one of the most popular workshops, is a yearlong workshop that she provides to students with siblings with special needs that reside in the Chesapeake area.

 

Lisa K. Kerry is a native of Chesapeake, VA and a proud graduate of Indian River High School.  She began her college career at Hampton University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Arts with a minor in Early Childhood Education, and then eventually her Master of Teaching Degree.  Later in her career, Ms. Kerry earned an Endorsement in Administration and Supervision PreK-12 from Old Dominion University.

Ms. Kerry began her teaching career with Hampton City Schools and Virginia Beach Public Schools and eventually returned home to Chesapeake Public Schools.  As an educator in Chesapeake, Ms. Kerry worked as a Kindergarten teacher at Southeastern Elementary School and as the Technology Integration Specialist at Camelot Elementary School.

As an employee of Chesapeake Public Schools, Lisa Kerry has served in a variety of capacities.  She has been the School Testing Coordinator, PTA Teacher Liaison, and PTA Vice President.  She has also served on a number of committees including the Child Study Committee, Enhanced Student and Teacher Assistance Team (ESTAT), School Improvement Committee, and the Parent Involvement Committee.  Ms. Kerry created and led parent workshops for a Computer Donation Program offered through Chesapeake Public Schools. Most notably, Ms. Kerry presented at both the National Title 1 Distinguished School Conference and the Virginia Association of Federal Education Program Administrators Conference.

Ms. Kerry continues to reside in Chesapeake with her two daughters, Madison and Riley.
