VDOE Training Modules
Listed below are required training modules licensed teachers must complete every renewal cycle. Please visit the Virginia Department of Education website to review the most current information on licensure in the state of Virginia.
Licensure Updates
Licensed teachers can earn points towards license renewal by completing a college credit course. Please review the following updated guidelines (fall 2022) for college credit licensure points.
Teachers must submit official transcripts to receive licensure points for college credit courses.
One semester hour = 30 Licensure Points
Eligible college credit courses must offer new information not previously taken
Tuition Reimbursement
Tuition Assistance is available to Chesapeake Public Schools employees to help reduce the cost incurred when furthering one’s education or taking courses for licensure renewal. Current employees can learn more about our tuition assistance process here.

Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition and Intervention (5 points)
Dyslexia Awareness (5 points)
Meaningful IEP Online* (5 points)
*teacher must type in name and date before printing certificate; handwritten certificates will not be acceptedBuilding a More Inclusive Community Key Elements (5 points)
CPR/First Aid/AED, to include hands-on CPR** (5 points)
**Sign up for a Heartsaver class through Professional Development OR complete the three (3) separate training modules located on the Vector platform under the “Health” tab. Check with your principal, school nurse, or Department Head to schedule a CPR hands-on training session.
