1. Slide Safely: Always slide down the slide, feet first, while sitting up, facing forward, and one at a time.
2. Clear the Slide: Move away from the bottom of the slide immediately after going down.
3. Take Turns: Wait your turn and form a line if more than one person wants to use the equipment.
4. Keep Clear: Stairways and pathways must stay clear. No standing, sitting, or hanging out on the equipment.
5. Swing Properly: Sit upright on swings, holding the chain or handles with both hands.
6. Swing Safely: Do not jump out of swings, twist chains, swing sideways, or play with empty swings.
7. Stay Clear of Swings: Keep a safe distance from children on swings and avoid walking or running in front, behind, or between swings.
8. Adaptive Swings: The adaptive swings are reserved for students who require them for support and safety. They should only be used by those for whom they are designed.
9. Ladders and Ropes: Use ladders and ropes one at a time. They are for climbing only, not sitting.
10. No Jumping: Do not jump off any equipment at any time.
11. Running Areas: No running around playground equipment. Running is allowed in grass areas only.
12. Ball Play: Passing and throwing balls (e.g., footballs, soccer balls, kickballs) is allowed, but competitive sports like football or soccer are not permitted, with the exception of non-contact sports such as kickball that are supervised by an adult.
13. Be Gentle: Avoid running, pushing, or pulling near playground equipment.
14. Mulch Stays Put: Mulch must remain on the ground.
15. Climbing Rules: Use the bars to climb up; do not climb poles or under equipment.
16. Respect Personal Space: Do not grab or hold another student’s clothes, lanyard, or limbs.
17. Shoes On: Shoes must remain on during recess.
18. Visibility: Stay within sight of the teacher and in designated play areas.
19. End of Recess: When signaled by the teacher, line up quietly and prepare to re-enter the building.
