What should I do if my student is absent?

School attendance is an important factor in a student's academic success. School attendance also helps students with socialization, becoming engaged with their peer groups, and enhances their sense of belonging to our school community and prepares them for a bright future. We encourage parents to schedule vacations, trips, outings, etc during non-school days to minimize their student's absences. School Board Policy 9-13 outlines legitimate excuses for absence or tardiness.

Report an Absence Early!

The best option is to notify the school of the student's absence before it happens! Parents can report their student's absence the day of absence or up to a week in advance in ParentVUE. The ParentVUE "Report an Absence" button cannot be used for past absences.

Directions on how to use the Report an Absence tool in ParentVUE is available in the embedded video on this page.

Report an Absence After It Happened

If you were unable to notify the school of your student's absence early using your ParentVUE account, please send a notification to excuse your student's absence. When you send the absence excuse notification, please make sure you identify the dates of the absence.
