Virtual Virginia is a program of the Virginia Department of Education that serves students in Virginia middle and high schools. The program, open to all Chesapeake Public Schools students, offers access to online courses for students who would like to enroll in Advanced Placement, world language, core academic courses, and elective courses. In order to take AP courses students must be an Early College Scholar and have an application on file at their home school.
To take a course through Virtual Virginia:
- students must complete the application and submit it to their guidance counselor.
- students must complete all Chesapeake Public Schools course prerequisites.
- students must be on campus at their zoned school to complete assessments as mandated by Virtual Virginia, Chesapeake Public Schools, and the Virginia Department of Education.
- students must take Virtual Virginia courses as part of their normal course load.
