Military & Family Life Counselor

From the Office of Hickory Middle School’s Military & Family Life Counselor

A warm welcome to our recent PCS’d United States Military Service Members and their families. The United States Department of Defense has provided Hickory Middle School with the Military & Family Life Program, a valuable resource available for our military-connected students.

Our Military & Family Life Counselor, Mrs. Mary Williams, is a licensed professional counselor and provides non-medical supportive services to our military connected students and their families.  She conducts individual and group counseling sessions and can be found in our main office suites at Hickory Middle School on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:45am – 3:30pm.  Mrs. Williams is able to arrange her schedule to meet your needs outside of the posted days and/or time frame listed above.

As you are aware, the Covid-19 variance is impacting the Chesapeake community.  In light of the situation, we wanted to inform you we are being proactive and preparing for the possibility of temporary virtual counseling sessions in the future.  In the event our school is impacted by this variance, Mrs. Williams will be available to provide confidential virtual support to our students and staff through the secure platform, Zoom.  If a temporary closure were to occur, you may contact our MFLC and schedule individual and/or group sessions to assist your family members during the transition.  She requests you sign a consent form or provide her with your oral consent for services.  If you are interested in receiving her services or have questions or concerns about the program, please contact her directly.
