2017-18 HIGHLIGHTS

Thanks for your support!

  • Held 1st/2nd Semester Lunch for teachers and staff, and sponsored appreciation events throughout the year including Welcome Fall, Cookies/Coffee in December, Pie Day and Teacher Appreciation Week with a raffle.

 

  • Held 3rd Annual Spring Artisan Craft Show in March 2018, featuring 110 local crafters. The only school that showcases only artisans (no direct sales vendors). Raised over $5000.

 

  • Awarded five scholarships at $1000 each, funded by the Craft Show, to Spencer Massey, Danielle Romeo, Chase Stanley, Makenzie Stedman, and Jackson Tate.

 

  • Operated Hawks Nest School Store each week during all lunch periods, staffed entirely by volunteers, daily from 12-2 p.m. and during special evening hours. Profit exceeded $10K.

 

  • Funded “I Need a Lighthouse” Assembly for entire school – a Depression and Suicide Education Awareness Program.

 

  • Earned over $1700 from Harris Teeter’s Together in Education program with a record 386 households (from 321 last year and 159 in 2015).

 

  • Purchased two Elkay Water Bottle Filling Stations for the Aux Gym and Art/Drama hallway.

 

  • Purchased two Chair dollies and three floor fans for our custodians.

 

  • Funded 6 Teacher and Club Grants totaling over $900.

 

  • Enhanced Communications Outreach via Facebook, twitter, remind.com, PTSA website, weekly email update and new Instagram account for the store.

 

  • Sponsored E.R. Shelter Donation Drive in conjunction with SCA and the Holiday Tree for the third year in a row.

 

  • Accolades from Chesapeake Council PTA (CCPTA), May 9, 2018
