We are Hickory, and We SOAR!

What is PBIS?
School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports is a proactive, team-based framework for creating and sustaining safe and effective schools. Emphasis is placed on prevention of problem behavior, development of pro-social skills, and the use of data-based problem solving for addressing existing behavior concerns. School-wide PBIS increases the capacity of schools to educate all students utilizing research-based school-wide, classroom, and individualized interventions.
“PBIS” is short for Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports. This language comes directly from the 1997 re-authorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Hickory High School will SOAR to new heights when students and staff commit to provide a safe learning environment, exhibit ownership by taking responsibility for our behaviors, maintain positive attitudes in all situations, and show that we respect the dignity of others.
