Electronic Device Policy

Cellular telephones and electronic devices including earbuds are permitted on school grounds for secondary students.  These devices must be powered off and placed in student backpacks or lockers for safety. Cell phones should not be visible i.e. back pockets. Backpacks may not be taken into restrooms.  They must be dropped at the door.  

1st offense:  Students will receive a verbal warning. The teacher will contact the parent and document it in the student contact log in Synergy. Teacher assistants should notify the Team Leader so that the offense can be documented in the student contact log. 

2nd offense:  The cellular phone or electronic device will be confiscated by an administrator. The teacher will notify the parent to pick up the phone from an administrator. 

3rd offense:  The student will be given ISS. The administrator will contact the parent. 

4th offense:  The student will be given OSS. The administrator will contact the parent. 

Smartwatches will be monitored closely for their impact on instruction, if needed additional guidelines will be forthcoming.
