Graduation

At the heart of the Chesapeake Public Schools (CPS) mission is our commitment to prepare students to successfully fulfill their life’s purpose. In June, the school division will join more than 3,000 of our high school seniors and their families from all seven high schools to celebrate our graduates and their first step towards their futures.

Time to Celebrate:

All high school graduation ceremonies will occur June 12-14, 2019, at the Ted Constant Convocation Center on the campus of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Please check the graduation schedule below for specific dates and times.

Viewing the Ceremony:

To enable our parents serving overseas and other relatives to see their loved one graduate in real time, each ceremony will be available via a live video stream.

Additionally, the ceremonies can be viewed on CPSTV Channel 46 (Cox Cable) and Channel 42 (Verizon FiOS).

Copies of DVDs of each ceremony can also be purchased to benefit the Chesapeake Education Foundation.

Tips and Information for Guests:

  • Bring your tickets. Tickets will be required for everyone who enters the Ted Constant Center to ensure all guests have a seat. This year, we will be using bar-coded tickets. Any additional tickets will be with ODU staff at the entrance to the convocation center until capacity is reached.
  • Plan ahead. Doors to the convocation center open one hour prior to each ceremony. Allow significant time for traffic and parking.
  • Practice patience and watch for pedestrians. Thousands of students and guests will be on sidewalks and crosswalks. Pedestrians should observe crossing signals and drivers should practice caution around the venue.
  • Handicap access will be available at the 45th Street entrance.
