On Sunday, Feb. 3 2020, it was was announced from the VDOE Superintendent of Public Instruction, James Lane, that Timur Bolukbas from Great Bridge Middle School was one of 13 winners selected of the Computer Science in Your Neighborhood competition.
The competition is a joint project of the Virginia Department of Education, the Science Museum of Virginia and CodeVA. The contest challenged students to create digital products including videos, websites and applications about their interest in computer science and the role it plays in their daily lives, families and communities. Submissions were received in November and December from 135 students and classes.
Timur created a video that took 5 days to make on what is Computer Science using Windows Movie Maker and Adobe Video Editor. Timur stated that has even built his very own computer! We are very proud of Timur and this great accomplishment. Timur will receive a certificate recognizing his achievement and a laptop computer provided by CodeVA.
