February is African American History Month

Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the role of African Americans in U.S. history. The 2019 theme, “Black Migrations,” emphasizes the movement of people of African descent to new destinations and, subsequently, to new social realities. Chesapeake Public Schools is proud to honor African American History Month, and we hope you will take the time to celebrate with our schools.
