The Responsive Return plan recommendations presented to the School Board on Monday, January 25, 2021, allows for the Fall 2020 athletic season to proceed with adjustments. The fall sports that will have an abbreviated season include football, competition cheer, cross country, field hockey, volleyball, and golf.  To comply with mitigation strategies and appropriate access to practice and competition facilities, only varsity programs will compete. Athletes and coaches across the district are currently engaged in practices at their respective high schools and look forward to the competition schedule. In light of the February 17, 2021 amendments to Governor Northam’s Executive Order 72  regarding spectators at school sporting events, Chesapeake Public Schools will now be able to allow a limited number of guests at fall athletic events. Please read our spectator attendance policies outlined below.  In addition, the District is making final preparations for a streaming service that will allow spectators to enjoy the events if they are unable to attend.
