Welcome to Deep Creek Elementary. We look forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure that our students can achieve their highest potential this school year. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our students need support from both home and school. We know that a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education.

As partners, we share the responsibility for student success. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

1. Attends school daily and on time and ready for the day’s learning experiences.

2. Completes all homework assignments.

3. Reads daily to develop a love of reading to improve literacy skills.

4. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life.

5. Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject.

6. Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and to further their learning.

Additionally, all students at DCE will receive instruction in four core subject areas: reading/language arts, math, science and history. Classroom instruction is differentiated for students based on their level of academic performance. To help you support the academic program, curriculum guides are available at school and online. These guides explain what your child will be learning in reading/language arts, math, science, history, art, music and physical education. Student performances are an important part of elementary school. Your child may participate in grade level music performances or specific grade level programs. Fifth grade students will have the opportunity to learn how to play an instrument by participating in our orchestra music class. Other special events that take place at DCE may include, career day, field day, science night, reading night and other activities that showcase and recognize students’ talents and work. We also offer a variety of activities before and after school, such as the running club, girls on the run, mad science club, computer club, etc., based on student interest and availability. We also partner with outside organizations to provide other opportunities.
