Although the district Young Writer’s event had to be canceled due to current mitigation strategies, we decided to celebrate our Young Writers virtually!
We are so thankful for all of the time and effort put into this project by our students, teachers, Art staff, TIS, and Reading Specialist!
Youth Art Month is in full swing! Each Friday there is a special “dress up” theme. This Friday (March 19th) is MONO-Chroma-tic Day! Mono meaning “one” – Chrome meaning “color” . . . so wear ONE color from head to toe, or as much as you can. Did through those closets and find ONE color and wear it this Friday!
Throughout the nation and Commonwealth of Virginia educators and communities will take time in April to recognize the contributions of children whose parents serve in the military. Here at DCE we are planning several activities to recognize our amazing military connected students. Please look for more information about these events as we approach the month of April.
- The DCE Hall of Heroes will give military students the opportunity to share information about their military family member(s).
- Interviews with military connected students will allow our military to share their experience with their teachers and peers.
- A wall display recognizing the official flower of the military child: the dandelion.
- Purple Up Day! On Wednesday, April 21 everyone will wear purple to show support for our military families.
Welcome to Deep Creek Elementary. We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure that our students can achieve their highest potential this school year. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our students need support from home and school.
