Anti-bullying Initiative

Chesapeake Public Schools Bullying Initiative
Chesapeake Public Schools will not tolerate any type of bullying, including cyber bullying, even if it occurs outside of school on electronic devices not owned by Chesapeake Public Schools. Students engaged in bullying behaviors will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include suspension and/or a recommendation for expulsion. Incidents in which the behavior is believed to constitute criminal activity will also be referred to the proper law enforcement officials.

Per the code of Virginia (§ 22.1-276.01) bullying is defined as:

“…any aggressive and unwanted behavior that is intended to harm, intimidate, or humiliate the victim; involves a real or perceived power imbalance between the aggressor or aggressors and victim; and is repeated over time or causes severe emotional trauma. “Bullying” includes cyber bullying. “Bullying” does not include ordinary teasing, horseplay, argument, or peer conflict.”
