Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month!

Chesapeake Public Schools celebrates: Be Proud of your Past. Embrace the Future. National Hispanic Heritage Month. Sep 15 - Oct 15, 2020National Hispanic Heritage Month is nationally celebrated every year from September 15 to October 15. Within our schools, administrators and teachers celebrate and recognize the contributions of the Hispanic community to our country’s history, culture, and heritage through multimedia displays, cross-curricular lessons, and special events.

Two important partnerships have been established to promote engagement with our hispanic families – La Conexión Radio Show and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Coastal Virginia.

La Conexión - Todo lo que necesitas saber esta aquí - official logo of the Radio StationOur Family and Community Engagement Center is proud to partner with La Conexión, currently the only radio broadcast created to inform, entertain, and empower the local Hispanic community in Hampton Roads. Produced and hosted by Venezuelan journalist and on-air personality, Fancir Sánchez-Alcalá, our partnership with La Conexión helps to engage with our hispanic and latino families in the Spanish language.

We are also proud to partner with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Coastal Virginia. Through this partnership, we will offer a webinar on October 1, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. titled “Empoderando a las Familias” (Family Empowerment Webinar). In this webinar presented completely in Spanish, Mr. Jose Leon from the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will share community resources available to our families in conjunction with several of our district educators who will highlight educational and technical resources available to all families.
