Programs

Art Therapy Program

Our Art Therapy program, coordinated by our school counselor and the Eastern Virginia Medical School, provides student interns to work with our students. The interns help the CAS student to develop strategies to resolve conflicts, develop social skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, and to increase self-awareness.

ESTAT

Enhanced Student and Teacher Assistance Team (ESTAT) is a problem-solving committee. It monitors student progress and makes critical educational decisions based on student academic performance and on the effects of behavior interventions.

PBIS

Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for the student to achieve social, emotional, and academic success.

MIR/READ 180

Daily reading programs, such as Monitored Independent Reading (MIR), iReady Reading, and Read 180, are designed to encourage reading and to improve reading comprehension.

TEAM: CAS Behavior Program

TEAM (Together Everyone Accomplishes More) is a behavioral program that uses positive reinforcement to encourage the student to manage his or her behavior while working through multiple stages. The object of the program is that the student learns to replace inappropriate behaviors and responses to problems with appropriate, positive alternatives.
