Online Learning at Butts Road Intermediate

Online Learning Updates

Consistency: Online learning will take place during routine school hours.

Butts Road Intermediate: 8:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Start the Day: The online learning day will begin with a morning meeting (15 minutes), where teachers will check in with the class and provide an overview of the day’s activities.

Routine: Throughout the day, students will receive 90 minutes of teacher-led instruction (in 30 minute sessions) integrating the core subjects of reading, math, science and social studies.

Resources: Physical education, art, music, and library have been scheduled throughout the week in 30-minute sessions.  Click to see the third grade resource schedule, fourth grade resource schedule, and fifth grade resource schedule for virtual learning in the event of a return to online instruction.

Flexibility: Recognizing our young learners need breaks from the screen, we have made every effort to avoid scheduling core subjects back-to-back. In the event core subjects were scheduled back-to-back, an online BRAIN BREAK was incorporated in the schedule.

Student Support: During independent learning time, students will be scheduled to work in small groups using Zoom or Google Meet. These sessions will be led by your child’s teacher, an assistant, or other instructional staff to address individual student needs. Your child’s teacher will work with you to determine how and when these small group sessions will take place during scheduled independent learning times.

Closure: The online learning day will end with a closure or reflection activity (15 minutes) to review what was learned and to discuss next steps for learning.

Family Support: Teachers will be available for office hours each day and can be reached by phone or email. Videoconferencing appointments are available as well.

Schedules:  Individual class schedules can be found on the teacher’s Schoology HR/Attendance Course, along with their Zoom or Google Meet Link.

In the event that BRI returns to online instruction, our students should follow the schedule for their grade level.  Click here to see grade level daily schedules during virtual learning.  Students will still receive resource instruction online and will need to get the Course Access Code from their teacher for EACH resource class, in order to access the Zoom / Meet link and course materials.
