Hawk Academy and Hawk Tutors Programs
Information for PARENTS
This year, BRI will offer two unique opportunities for students to participate in additional instructional interventions. Both programs, Hawk Academy and Hawk Tutors, are designed to meet the varying needs of our students. Sessions for both programs will begin the week of March 6, 2023.
BRI will offer Hawk Academy, provided by BRI teachers, through a mixture of morning and afternoon sessions, as well as selected sessions during the school day. These sessions are designed to offer additional instruction and practice in predetermined areas of academic focus. Hawk Academy is an opportunity for identified students to receive additional support in targeted areas of reading, math and science. Hawk Academy allows identified students an opportunity to personalize their learning experience. Hawk Academy also provides students an opportunity to demonstrate our S.O.A.R. principles, by taking ownership of their educational experience and practicing positive attitudes towards learning.
Hawk Tutors, also provided by BRI teachers and staff, will offer a more flexible instructional program designed for any student in need of academic assistance. Unlike Hawk Academy, Hawk Tutors is open to all students and designed to serve as a “drop-in” option for students who need additional assistance. Teachers in the Hawk Tutors program will provide one-on-one and small group assistance based on the needs of the individuals in attendance in each session.

For Parents: How do I sign my student up for either of these programs?
Hawk Academy – selected students, invitation letter provided to student/parent:
- Visit the Hawk Academy page on our BRI Website.
- Parents should complete the invitation letter they received and return it to the child’s teacher ASAP. Invite letters will be distributed in Thursday envelopes March 2, 2023. Students who are NOT invited to attend Hawk Academy are encouraged to utilize our Hawk Tutors program.
Hawk Tutors – Open registration for all students,
- Visit the Hawk Tutors page on our BRI Website.
- Review the Hawk Tutors schedules appropriate to your child’s grade level.
- Identify the session(s) your student would like to attend. Although prior registration is appreciated, students can “drop-in” for sessions the day of, with parent permission.
- Use the RSVP link to sign up for a scheduled session. Registration will open Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
Morning Session Information:
Morning sessions begin at 7:00 am. Hawk Academy and Hawk Tutoring teachers / TAs will meet students in the lobby at that time. Parents are reminded to NOT drop students off prior to 7:00 am. Only students registered for the YMCA morning program may utilize an early drop off.
Afternoon Session Information:
Parents should pull their vehicle through the bus ramp along the curb and stay in your car.. Students will be escorted to your vehicle at 3:45 pm. Parents are asked to have a photo ID available to the teacher to check prior to dismissing the student.
Snacks:
Students are encouraged to bring a snack and bottle water.
Schedule:
Each session will be held in the teacher’s classroom. Mrs. Marston is assigned to room 408 for her Wednesday and Friday Hawk Academy classes.
