Chesapeake Public Schools is pleased to provide a variety of high-quality instructional programs for students this summer. Some of our summer programs will be offered virtually and others will be conducted on campus. Enrollment for summer school is now closed. However, there are some opportunities for summer enrichment that are still available for our students.
Beginning Monday, June 28, 2021, Chesapeake Public Schools will offer weekly Summer Learning Choice Boards for elementary school students (grades kindergarten through fifth). This five-week program will provide students access to fun and engaging web-based activities that are self-paced and sorted by content area and grade level. Students are encouraged to select materials for the grade level attended during the 2020-2021 school year. The first week of choice boards are now available and will be updated each Thursday during the five week program. Registration is not required for students to participate in this summer eLearning program.
The Summer Math Challenge officially started Monday, June 21, 2021. This is a free, six-week online math skills maintenance program designed for students who have just completed first through eighth grade. The 2021 Challenge will support student learning at home and offers daily emails with fun activities and links to educational resources at each student’s ability level. Parents can monitor their child’s progress and generate weekly badges and a certificate to celebrate accomplishments. It is not too late to sign up for the Summer Math Challenge at the Lexile and Quantile Hub!
