New Construction is responsible for managing the design and construction of the new schools, additions, and the renovations approved by the School Board in its capital improvement plan.

Planning is primarily responsible for the following:
Annually updating the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)
Maintaining current enrollment
Projecting future enrollment
Acquiring land for the school division
Maintaining school attendance zones
Assignment of portable classrooms
Monitoring use of school buildings
Geographic Information Systems (G.I.S.)

ATTENDANCE ZONE STUDY: On January 23, 2017, Chesapeake Public Schools staff presented several attendance zone options to address overcrowding at Hickory Middle School and utilize existing capacity at other middle schools.

The School Board requested additional information regarding alternative attendance zone options. This information was presented at the January 30, 2017 School Board meeting for review and comment.
