Our 7 high schools, 10 middle schools, 28 elementary schools, and other special centers and facilities are dedicated to high levels of performance. With one of the highest graduation rates and lowest drop-out rates in the state, Chesapeake Public Schools is known for its commitment to the academic growth of its students. This page serves as the starting point in the completion and submission of an application for employment with Chesapeake Public Schools.

Chesapeake Public Schools has openings throughout the year for positions such as teachers, guidance counselors, assistant principals, principals, custodians, bus drivers, bus assistants, school nutrition staff, and substitutes; therefore, applicants can express interest for one of the positions listed above without applying directly for a specific opening. Simply include one or more of the listed positions as a preference on your profile so that one of our human resources administrators can review your work experience and credentials prior to an actual opening occurring. For this reason, it is very important that applicants carefully complete all portions of their profile and keep it updated.

External Applicants:
Any individual who is not employed by Chesapeake Public Schools in any capacity, including those who work for Chesapeake Public Schools on a voluntary basis, may create or update an applicant profile and apply for open positions by clicking the link below.

 

Internal Applicants:
Individuals currently employed by Chesapeake Public Schools, including substitutes, tutors, paid coaches,  temporary employees and volunteers may click the link below to update your profile and apply for open positions within Employee Space.

Full-time teachers and teacher assistants will only be able to request transfers through the Transfer Job Board (within Employee Space) between March 15 and July 15 each school year.
Full-time, contracted employees may apply for summer employment through the Summer Job Board (within Employee Space) between March 15 and July 15 each school year.

PLEASE NOTE: At this time, substitutes and other Chesapeake Public Schools employees will only be able to access the job board and job application link from a computer within the Chesapeake Public Schools network; therefore, should you wish to submit an application for a position,  you must apply at a network computer or a computer located within the Department of Human Resources.
